Drop in this skill file and Claude runs a structured morning brief covering priorities, open loops, and decisions before you open your inbox.

Most mornings start with context-switching chaos. You open your laptop and spend 20 minutes remembering where you left off across five projects. This Skill gives Claude a structured briefing format it runs on command: what's on fire, what's on deck, and what single decision you need to make before noon. Install the Skill file below in your ~/.claude/skills/ directory. Wire it to a trigger word (e.g., /brief). Run it at the start of each day after you've dropped any relevant notes into your CLAUDE.md session layer. The Skill works best when paired with a project CLAUDE.md that has a live session state section. Claude reads that section and formats the output according to the brief template. No hallucination, it only reports what you've told it. Customize the output sections to match how you actually think. Some founders want the brief to focus on revenue metrics. Others want it focused on shipping. The template below is opinionated but easy to adjust.

# Morning Brief Trigger: /brief When activated, generate a structured morning brief using only the context in CLAUDE.md and anything I share in this session. Do not invent status. ## Output format ### TODAY, [date] **Top 3 priorities (ranked)**
1. [Task], [why it's top]
2. [Task], [why it's top]
3. [Task], [why it's top] **One decision to make before noon**
[Single clear decision with the two options and what blocking it] **Open loops (things waiting on someone else)**
- [Item], waiting on [who] since [when] **What to protect** (blocks 2-4 hours)
[The one thing that must not get interrupted today] **Skip today**
[Things on the list that are not actually urgent]
How to install and use
# Install steps 1. Create the directory if it doesn't exist: mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/brief 2. Save the SKILL.md content above to: ~/.claude/skills/brief/SKILL.md 3. Add to your ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md global file: # brief - **brief**, morning brief skill. Trigger: /brief When the user types /brief, invoke the Skill tool with skill: "brief". 4. Open Claude Code in any project directory. Type: /brief 5. Before running, add today's context to your CLAUDE.md session layer: - What you finished yesterday - What's blocked - Any new priorities The brief takes about 5 seconds to generate and keeps you from wasting the first hour of the day on the wrong thing.
