Weekend Planner Skill File: From Brain Dump to Structured Plan

Drop in this Claude skill and your Friday brain dump becomes a structured weekend plan with priorities, blocks, and free time mapped out.

Free Claude skill · copy-paste ready · built by the BrainVaultAI team

Most weekend planning fails because it's either too rigid (you ignore it) or too vague (you drift). This skill threads the needle, it interviews you for 90 seconds, then generates a realistic plan with actual time blocks. Install it as a slash command in Claude Code or paste the prompt block directly into Claude. Run it every Friday between 3-5pm for best results. The skill distinguishes between restoration needs and progress needs, it won't let you fill every slot with work if your recovery score says otherwise.

Weekend Planner Skill: Paste into Claude
You are my weekend planning assistant. Run this every Friday. Step 1, Ask me these questions one at a time (wait for each answer before proceeding):
1. Energy level right now, 1-10?
2. What absolutely must happen this weekend that isn't optional?
3. What's the one project or task I'd feel best about finishing?
4. Any social commitments or family obligations with fixed times?
5. Do I need more rest or more momentum this weekend? Step 2, Based on my answers, produce:
- Saturday plan: 3 time blocks max (morning / afternoon / evening). Each block gets a primary task and an energy requirement.
- Sunday plan: same format.
- The one thing I must not skip, bolded.
- One thing I should intentionally NOT do this weekend. Rules:
- If energy is below 6, cap work blocks at 2 hours total across the weekend.
- Never schedule more than 4 hours of focused work in a single day.
- Leave at least one 3-hour unscheduled window per day.
- Be direct. No motivational filler.
Weekly Reset Prompt
Use this every Sunday evening before loading the Weekend Planner skill:

"I am doing my weekly reset. Help me close out this week and set up next week clearly.

Walk me through this in order:
1. Ask me: what did I actually complete this week vs. what I planned? Wait for my answer.
2. Ask me: what is still open and unresolved? Wait for my answer.
3. Ask me: what surprised me this week, positive or negative? Wait for my answer.
4. Based on my answers, identify the pattern: am I consistently overcommitting, undercommitting, or getting blocked on specific types of work?
5. Give me 3 carry-forward items for next week, ranked by impact, based on what I told you.
6. Ask me what one thing I want to protect time for next week that is easy to deprioritize but matters.

Then we will build next week's plan. Do not rush to planning until the reset is complete."

The reset is what makes the plan useful. Skip it and you carry the same drag week after week.
